Not the start I hoped for. If I'd been lucky I could go to both. Let me start from the beginning.
Our last period of the day, Geography. A good teacher and a good subject. And a good news. Sir announced that DNA (a local newspaper) was holding a mountaineering camp for my age children. Hiking and exploring has been my favorite form of adventure. I did such stuff last summer.
But Mom and Dad said it was not possible because we would be visiting Mumbai. My disappointment reached its limit.
But then the good news. The trip to Mumbai would be through air. We would visit India's largest entertainment park "Essel World". And still, I was expecting my birthday gift from my relatives in Mumbai.
See you after the holidays

Count who????? (What is a count anyway)
Deep in the Transylvanian Woods (that time Central Romania) in the Carpathian Mountains, a young boy was born. But the boy was born near the presence of an evil omen. But his parents expected a bright future of him.
The boy grew up to become a priest in a nearby Church. No one knew about his inner thoughts. Though being a priest, his dislike for everyone, even God , aggravated. He could not resist to do petty sins like lying, abusing, etc. like he had done in his childhood. He was on the verge of going insane.
Alas, by the time he had realized his mistakes, there was no time left for repenting. The time which was gone, had gone. He could not reverse them. Hell was waiting for him. To upset to live, he hanged himself on a tree branch.
He opened his eyes to see everything around him red and burning. In front of him stood a horrid creature, too horrid to be described. The Demon walked up to him and dared that he could bring him back to life in a half corporeal state.
The man agreed. He was told the condition of the deal. He was not to roam about in his terrifying state during the day. He was to be allergic to garlic cloves. He could only survive on the energy of a victim.
Thus arose a terrifying race of semi-beasts which had the power to convert into bats. They had long and fang like teeth instead of their canines. THIS MAN WAS...................

The Outlanders
11 pm, September 17th, 2001- Why couldn't I get sleep? I had tried to sleep since 3 hours. But in vain could I. Getting bored, I started reading a book. All I remember, I had been reading since one and a half hours.
1 am- I had finished my book. Still bored, I started peering out of the window. I was looking at the shadows of the DTH system on the terrace when I saw a heart stopping sight.....
The silhouette of a slim and short person.
I was quite surprised. I got up and picked up a torch. I ran towards the stairs and flashed the torch on.
On my terrace, there was a brown-green colored and slimy figure of the same silhouette. It looked quite feeble and weak. It turned towards me. It had a horrible face. It was an alien.
It looked quiet shocked and jumped from the terrace. Stunned, I ran towards the railing. I saw that the thick bushes at the bottom were starting to vibrate. Out of the bushes, a silver object as big as 4 m in diameter emerged and vanished into the clouds.
This was my encounter with an alien

Big.............Feet!!
Ya, it may sound that I'm nuts. But really, the Yeti of the Himalayas (also known as Bigfoot) exists. All wretched attempts to capture one on tape have seemed impossible. But this incident should make you more careful about "Them". You know, they live amongst us, I mean in the Himalayas.
10,00 feet above sea level. That was my position on the Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh. I was skiing all by myself and then lost my way. How silly of me!
Night time- It was unbearably cold. I could see lights up a few mountains. That meant human settlements. All I thought was to pull my sleeping bag out and sleep in it. I thought I would try to reach those houses tomorrow.
3 hours later- How my body was able to bear the cold, I don't know. I was completely zipped up in my sleeping bag. Something shifted nearby. I was feeling as if I was being hauled up by a wrestler. I tried to wriggle but I couldn't. I was feeling to numb. I sensed that the 'somebody' was carrying me.
Morning- I woke up feeling quiet warm and fresh. I opened the zip of my bag. I gasped at the sight. Three Big foots were peering anxiously at my face. I realized that they might be a family. There was a father, a mother and a child. They all seemed quiet interested in me.
10 pm- All of the members were sleeping soundly. They were actually snoring! I got out of my sleeping bag (that I hadn't done for a day) and slowly took out my skis. I was going to escape. I was not meant to be a foot long sub for them. I strapped my bag and simply left. I gave one last glance on them. Not one of them stirred.
Morning- I had simply had ran out of energy. I suddenly collapsed. I took of my skis and started crawling towards a ledge. Just beyond it was the tourist lodge! I couldn't believe my luck. I burst into the reception room.
I, since that day, go red when someone talks about a non-existing thing. All I know "something is out there".

My Bath in Quicksand
"Wake up, you blundering fool."
"Whoa" I said "what time is it?"
I woke up to see my best friend peering over my blanket. I realized, ITS SUNDAY, HIKING DAY! We, Pranav and I, went on free weekends and hiked on a nearby uninhabited and isolated hill. It was just near our campus's old water station which had been abandoned since it started leaking. The hill was home to wild fowl, rabbits and dogs. Dogs, I hate wild dogs. Imagine a dog growling and running at you. As we reached the hill, we realized that we had lost our path. We blindly followed an old track and later reached the old water station. First time I had seen it. It looked quiet massive. Many pipes carrying water (to where I don't know) were clearly visible running underground and leaking.
"Don't you think that this place was quiet near to the campus hostel?"
"Are you Mad?" He said "It was right in the middle of the forest surrounding the hill. It was build here so that no one could tamper with the water sources."
Just then a bloodcurdling howl was heard. It was followed by fierce barking and yapping.
We started to run at top speed. I was way ahead of Pranav. Suddenly my stomach lurched forward and the ground under my feet sank.
DROWNING IN QUICKSAND!!
Pranav saw my fate and carefully crossed the swamp and climbed a tree. 10 seconds later a massive hound appeared before us. It started growling but did not dare to advance towards me. A few minutes later, it simply left. Pranav cautiously climbed down the tree and walked up to me.
"What shall I do Now?" He shrieked .
"Just get me out"
"How ? You are right in the middle of the swamp."
"Then get help. Run as fast as you can and bring help. I can't just stay here"
He ran. Now I was alone in the middle of the swamp. Just then I remembered a technique described in "Man vs. Wild". Slowly pull yourself forward and don't struggle.
11 pm- I was free all right. All I had to do was to crawl my way out. But currently my protection against wild dogs was the swamp itself. So I stayed.
5 pm- Highly dehydrated and feeling thirsty, I looked up. All I saw was the forest floor, that too in blurriness. " Water" I shouted.
A few minutes later I heard a crackling sound. I saw that Pranav was leading a group of 5 men.
"There he is" He pointed.
The men threw a rope in my direction. Holding it, I slowly crawled my out.
On my return way, Pranav told me his story "I was running blindly when I saw some other dogs. I ran away and climbed a tree again. I found my bearings and climbed the hill. I located a road and ran towards it. I found these college students chatting in the canteen. We then located you and rescued you."
"Anyways, Did you enjoy it?"
" Are you a daft? I spend 10 hours in that swamp without water and you ask did you like it? Hey, now where are you running? Come back, you fool.

What an accident that was!
"Thats it, mom. How much will you repeat that same thing. Your eating my mind. i can't tolerate your temper. I'm going"
"Come back here young man or your going to be grounded for that attitude. What? Your going out cycling with our picnic bag? Come back this instant."
"No way mom. I'm leaving and going live like a gypsy."
I picked up my MultiTerrain Bike and put on my helmet. The picnic bag which was now going to hold my rations was neatly strapped on my back. At full speed I charged ahead, with my mom cursing me at my back. I went to my favorite place, the countryside. All of the sudden a descent started. I started gaining uncontrollable speed. In the bat of an eye, my cycle landed straight on a pothole. My cycle gave a slight wobble and then started rolling down the hillside. i lost control and crashed straight into a tree.
"Help" I shouted, suddenly feeling a bump on my head. My mother came running into the room. I suddenly realized that all of this was a bad dream. I was so engrossed in it that I thought it was real and ended up falling from my bed.

Friday the 13th
All alone. A rainy dark night. Parents on an outing. Just watched "The Grudge". Cowering in fright of the memory of that horrid film. Desperately trying to brighten myself by a book.
That was my position during that September 13th 2009(friday). Its never to be forgotten.
WAIT A MINUTE. What was that thought again. Oh yeah "mom and dad, come home soon". How silly of me to be frightened that night.
I wish we had not shifted to this lonely manor. We were rich, that was my fear. What if a theif broke in, or if I was taken for a ransom.
So there I sat, with a negative attitude. Wait, what was that sound!was it mom and dad. Or the black and unexpected visitor I feared. I was frightened out of my wits.
Crash!!
In the kitchen pantry(which could hold upto 5 men),a jar was broken. "That's it"I said. Picking up a baseball bat, I ,in an awkward manner, walked upto the kitchen.
The door was ajar. I gulped. Inside the pantry, though it was dark, I didn't turn on the lights.I guessed I would see a dreadful sight.
As I stood at the threshold,I noticed a slight moment under a cloak.
WHAMM went my bat. I pulled off the cloak and turned on the lights.
Guess what I noticed.
A DEAD RAT!!

Bandhar Bandhar
If your friends tease you by the name Bandhar, you wouldn't earn a good position in the society if you read this article. Its making news in Africa
Monkeys are very closely related to us. Chimps are the only animals (i.e. except us) that can recognise their own reflection in a mirror. Some gorillas also have been taught human sign language. Primates have been ranked as the world's #1 tool users.
But still there is a part of their brain which has a bend towards daftness. Monkeys have been known for their greediness, selfishness and lack of common sense.
Scientists studying monkey behavior and zoologist in Africa have developed a new technique to capture monkeys in an harmless manner. They take long and narrow necked glass bottles. in them is put a large sized nut ( I don't know how). The bottle is then left in the heart of the forest, tied to a tree.
Next day the trap-layer returns to the same spot. A monkey will be found traped with its arm stuck in the long neck.
Why does this happen?
Actually, the monkey gets greedy seeing a large nut. It puts its arm into the bottle and grabs hold of the nut, But due to the large size of the nut, the monkey cannot pull its arm out of the bottle unless it lets go of the nut. The scientist then simply grabs hold of the monkey's arm and using a light hammer, gently breaks the bottle. thus the monkey gets caught.
What does this remind you of?
As gullible as a monkey
OR
As Daft as a monkey

A Memento
CRASH!!!!
I suddenly woke up at 3:25 at the fortis hospital, feeling numb and having my father comforting me at my side. I remembered that I had an accident.
I felt something cold in my pocket. My mother's locket, which now was mine.
2 years ago- I lost my way in a fair. I had my mother locket in my hand. When I looked at it, I saw that her eyes were pointing towards a distant building. There were my parents in front of it, arousing my absence. When I explained everything, my mother said I was lucky and proclaimed that the locket was a bond of me and her.
Current- All the things I had to Undergo were shameful. I could not tolerate the thought that my mother was out of this world.
6 years later- I was doing briallant in studies, and now I have completed my first year. On a dull evening of a december day, a dog sprang out of a corner, chasing me me back to my ward. As I passed a worn beggar , I heard that something fell out of my pocket. Still scared of the dog, I didn't look back. At last when I changed my pajamas, I realised it was the locket.
Gone was my memory of my late and precious mother, lost to this unforgiving and cruel world.
I know where my locket is, in the hands of that beggar. Just wait till I catch hold of him.........
